At
this time we offer Grillo and Goldoni units. They are Italian-made,
complete hardened steel gear driven units with no belts or chains.
These are some of the most rugged equipment on the market and
we offer the best of the best.
Recently,
after digging many a garden plot by hand with all the great hand
tools we’ve come across over time, we discovered these walk-behind
tractors. As raised beds and containers have been our choice method
of growing, they require intensive labor. Our biggest concerns
in becoming more mechanized had been maintaining a healthy earthworm
population and soil biodiversity as well as soil hardpanning and
compaction that comes from tilling. With these tractors and implements,
we have found ways to cultivate more land utilizing healthy practices
with less concern about the negative effects of conventional tools.
From cultivator to rotary plow and flail mower to reciprocating
spader, these tools can take your backyard gardening and market
or small-scale farm into a more bountiful experience.
Biodiesel,
though arguably not the ultimate fuel, is a great carbon neutral
fuel that we feel really good about. It is a wonderful transitional
fuel. Until next generation fuels are created, this is a really
good way to garden with ease. We offer resources to help you get
started with small-scale local production and/or helping find
local supplies. If you are in the DC beltway area, we recommend
Green
Guild Biodiesel Coop. One of our best resources has been the
magazine Biodiesel
Smarter.
